What a whale of a time we’ve had in our first year!

It’s now a year since Whale-like-fish opened for business and what a year it’s been! Inspired by our love for the Highlands, a passion for PR, a determination to make PR services more accessible to every size of business (whales and fish) and the ambition to forge our own destiny, we took the plunge and launched Whale-like-fish.

Our vision was simple – to turn the agency model on its head and apply a consumer mindset to a service industry. We published a pricelist, we offered a loyalty card and we made a splash.

One year later, we are well on our way on our mission to have a client portfolio that reflects the diversity of the Highlands’ economy. At Whale-like-fish we represent aquaculture (Mowi), the hospitality sector (Cru Holdings), food and drink (Love Tonic), fitness and leisure (Inverness Half Marathon, Caberfeidh Ultra), heritage (Inverness Townscape Heritage Project), literature (Alexander McCabe) building and construction (Highland Hammer Hire), professional services (Middleton Ross) and IT services (The Apprentice Store).

Our model is proving successful; three clients have had loyalty rewarded after collecting all their points (or catching all their fish) and our reputation for delivering on our promises has resulted in referrals.

Whale-like-fish is also the communications arm of the Design Hub, where we offer a one stop shop from brand identity through to website development and PR. In our first year, we have been privileged to be part of a rebrand of one of the Highlands’ most established businesses (Middleton, Ross & Arnot) and a new innovation set to take the drinks industry by storm (Love Tonic).

As we reflect on our first year, we would like to thank all those that have been part of our journey so far. Thanks to our clients, the media of the Highlands and Islands who have been so supportive and of course to our friends and family who have spurred us on.

A special thank you is reserved to Wilma (pictured below). Inspired by the most famous mascot of the Highlands (Nessie), the beautiful Wilma has caught the attention of clients, prospects and media. She is our mascot and lucky charm.
